In late 2017, Suzy Tidwell taped her husband, Hoyt, making his chicken and dumplings in his trademark overalls and posted it on Facebook. There were no expectations for the 28-minute video, which quickly went viral. To date, 71 year-old Hoyt Tidwell’s chicken and dumplings video  has been viewed over 5 MILLION times on Facebook alone. Hoyt and Suzy started posting additional recipe videos, and before long, an unlikely celebrity was born. From their home kitchen south of Nashville, Tennessee, Hoyt and Suzy now post a weekly video offering viewers some country cookin’ and a dose of inspiration.

The videos have developed an international fanbase, with over 20 million views to date. The videos typically feature Suzy behind the camera, admonishing Hoyt if he doesn’t wash his hands, and instructing him to get a bigger bowl because he just can’t seem to make small batches of anything. Much like his old-fashioned southern recipes, Hoyt’s videos themselves are comfort food, reminding us of a simpler time and the magic that can be found around the family dinner table.

Hoyt and Suzy (who once “won big” on the Newlywed Game) just celebrated their 50th anniversary. If you ask the happy couple about their long term goals, they are quick to point out that Hoyt’s Kitchen isn’t about cookbooks or view counts… but about bringing people together.

New this month… Hoyt’s Kitchen, Volume 2: Favorite Recipes from Hoyt, Family & Friends (The Cookbook Specialists). The all-new collection of recipes follows 2018’s Hoyt’s Kitchen: Favorite Recipes from Hoyt and Family. Both books are available now at HoytsKitchen.com.

National Day of Prayer from Ed Boston Ministries

Pastor Ed and Amy Boston shared a National Day of Prayer podcast today. Click here to listen.

The theme for the 2019 National Day of Prayer on May 2, 2019, is Love One Another. The theme comes from the words of Jesus in John 13:34, “Love one another. Just as I have loved you.”

The National Day of Prayer was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of Congress, and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman. In 1988, the law was unanimously amended by both the House and the Senate and signed into law by President Ronald Reagan on Thursday, May 5, 1988, designating the first Thursday of May as a day of national prayer. Every president since 1952 has signed a National Day of Prayer proclamation.
Our hope is that individuals, churches, and spiritual leaders in America, will humble ourselves and unify in prevailing prayer for the next great move of God in America. We can come together in clear agreement that this is our greatest need. We can become a visible union, standing together in prayer. We can pray more than ever before, and practice extraordinary prayer for the next great move of God in America that will catapult the message of the gospel nationally and internationally.

Discoveries Give More Confirmation That The Bible Is Accurate

More and more discoveries continue to prove that the contents of the Holy Bible are accurate. Here are two recent stories that add to the long list.

Ancient 3,000-year-old tablet suggests Biblical king may have existed

The study of an ancient tablet that dates back nearly 3,000 years suggests that the biblical King Balak may have been an actual historical figure.

Published in Tel Aviv: The Journal of the Institute of Archaeology of Tel Aviv University, the study looks at the Mesha Stele and makes the determination that after looking at new photos of the cracked tablet, Balak existed, though the researchers are not 100 percent certain of it.

“After studying new photographs of the Mesha Stele and the squeeze of the stele prepared before the stone was broken, we dismiss Lemaire’s proposal to read  (‘House of David’) on Line 31,” the researchers wrote in the study’s abstract. “It is now clear that there are three consonants in the name of the monarch mentioned there, and that the first is a beth. We cautiously propose that the name on Line 31 be read as Balak, the king of Moab referred to in the Balaam story in Numbers 22–24.”

Rare ancient treasures bearing Biblical names discovered in Jerusalem’s City of David

Archaeologists in Israel have discovered a rare clay seal mark and a 2,600-year-old stone stamp bearing Biblical names amid the ruins of a building destroyed by the ancient Babylonians.

Seal Israel

The amazing finds, which date to the First Temple period, were made in Jerusalem’s famous City of David. The artifacts were discovered in the remains of a structure razed in the 6th century B.C., likely during the Babylonian destruction of Jerusalem in 586 B.C., according to experts.

In a statement, Prof. Yuval Gadot of Tel Aviv University and the Israel Antiquities Authority, which oversaw the dig, said charred pottery shards were found in the building, indicating that the seal mark and stamp survived a major fire. Both artifacts feature ancient Hebrew script.

Holy Week – Resurrection Sunday…The Empty Tomb

As sad as Good Friday was, the best news ever came on Sunday! The Tomb was empty!!! The birth of our Savior (Christmas), the death of our Savior (Good Friday), and the Resurrection of our now Risen Savior (Easter). The story of the human walk of Jesus is now complete with his impending Ascension soon at hand.

Blessings to all and a big thank you to those who followed the journey of Holy Week here with us.

Matthew 28:1-10

Jesus Has Risen

28 After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb.

There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men.

The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.”

So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples. Suddenly Jesus met them. “Greetings,” he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him.10 Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me.”
