Praying About The Russia – Ukraine Situation

The Russia/Ukraine border is a powder keg waiting for any small spark that would set off a regional conflict that would have repercussions around the world. This could cause anything from a minor skirmish to WWIII.

A war would not benefit any country involved, and a game of cat and mouse is a horrible way to see if the other side will blink. Let me pray with all who read this that God would immediately intervene: Pastor Ed Boston

Dear Heavenly Father,

As the situation along the Russia/Ukraine border is in a severe crisis, I lift this ugly problem up to you as I know that you are in control. The world is watching while a few men are making decisions that could affect every person on this planet.

I pray that wisdom will be used, that no blood will be shed, and that peace along that border area will prevail. Father, intervene will all parties involved and help curb the egos of those making decisions.

Thank you, Father, for hearing my prayers!

In the Holy Name of Jesus,

Amen

Latest Email from Victor Marx and All Things Possible

Greetings,
We’re so thankful for all your prayers over the last few weeks as we are creating strategies and plans to help our brothers and sisters in Afghanistan.
We always want to keep you up to date on our work in the Middle East.
Here’s the latest:

  • We’re still supporting some nonstandard evacuation operations but are pushing most of them to Save Our Allies. They are equipped and ready to coordinate these types of efforts long-term.
  • The Common Operating Picture (COP) — We’re still focused on developing a central place for organizations like ours to coordinate manifests, resources and plans. Quiet Professionals and Echo Analytics Group are refining a product we hope will be the focal point for many of these disparate efforts. (We’re considering repurposing the COP to counter sex trafficking and/or the migrant problem.)
  • We’re still watching events in the Panjshir Valley to see if and when humanitarian help will be allowed in.
  • We’re exploring other organizations to be our long-term partner in resettling Afghan families. React.org is the leading group that we want to work with.

As always, we are asking for continued PRAYER for our team and in each of these areas.
We’re also grateful for any financial support you’re able to give as we continue this important work.

When you GIVE to our programs, here’s where your support is going:

  • There are a handful of Afghan families we’re directly funding. Most are family members of ATP friends and others we happened to pair up with amid the chaos of the fall of Kabul.
  • We’re pushing money into Afghanistan to assist in hiding some Afghans being hunted by the Taliban. There aren’t many of these cases, but we’re helping them survive until other options are available.
  • ATP is providing lodging and food for hundreds of Afghans sitting at Mazer-e Sharif in northern Afghanistan as they await flights out. A few flights went out recently, but many more are needed soon.
  • With your support, we’re creating Lions and Lambs in Dari and Farsi to provide trauma relief to Afghan children scattered across the world. We ordered 35,000.
  • We’re connecting with various locations in the United States to see where we can assist the refugees.

This work is far from over, but we’re grateful for any monthly and one-time gifts you’re able to provide.

Would you partner with us today in supporting our work in Afghanistan and around the world? (Click on the picture and the donate section is at the bottom of that page. Pastor Ed)

As always, THANK YOU. We’re so grateful for your continued support as we seek to bring light and hope to some of the world’s darkest places.

‘Amen and Awoman’ This is a Joke, Right?

Let me start by saying, the article linked here is no joke and is in no way funny. That’s right a sitting United States Congressman ended his prayer on the House floor with Amen and Awoman. If the phrase “you can’t make this stuff up” was ever appropriate, it is here.

I’m not going to go into a political rant, but I want to share/educate on the meaning of the word Amen, and let me preface that with the word has nothing to do with gender.

Amen. In Baker encyclopedia of the Bible (Vol. 1, p. 69). Grand Rapids, MI: Baker Book House, K. R. Snodgrass writes:

Amen. Hebrew word meaning “so it is” or “let it be,” derived from a verb meaning “to be firm or sure.” Some translations of the Bible always retain the Hebrew word amen in the text. Others translate it by an expression such as “truly” or “I tell you the truth,” or sometimes omit it altogether. Because of its use in the OT, “amen” was also used in Christian worship and religious writings, including the Greek NT. Since Jews, Christians, and Muslims all use this word in a variety of languages, it may be one of the most widely known words in the world.

“Amen” has much more significance than merely being the last word in a prayer. In fact, that practice is not evidenced in the Bible, and was not especially frequent in ancient times. In the 30 times it is used in the OT, “amen” nearly always occurs as a response to what has preceded. The significance of the response is that with it the people adopted what had just been said as if it were their own. For example, in Deuteronomy 27:15–26 (where “amen” appears 12 times) the people responded with “amen” after each statement of a curse directed toward those who disobey God. Similarly, “amen” is used as a response after statements of promise (Jer 11:5) or of praise and thanksgiving (1 Chr 16:36), and as a conclusion to the first four of the five “books” of psalms (Pss 41:13; 72:19; 89:52; 106:48). The only exceptions in the OT are two occurrences in Isaiah 65:16. There, the phrase “the God of amen” stresses that God is the one who is “firm”; that is, he is completely trustworthy and faithfully fulfills his promises.

The use of “amen” as a response to a preceding statement is continued in the NT Epistles and Book of Revelation. It appears after doxologies (Eph 3:21), benedictions (Gal 6:18), the giving of thanks (1 Cor 14:16), prophecy (Rv 1:7), and statements of praise (Rv 7:12). (The LB usually tries to give the idea without using the specific word.) From 1 Corinthians 14:16 it is clear that a response of “amen” after a statement of thanks was a means for worshipers to participate by showing agreement with what had been said. In Revelation 7:12 “amen” occurs both at the beginning and the end of a statement, but the first “amen” is a response to the praise given in 7:10. An “amen” after a statement of praise has the connotation, “That is what I say too.” As a response to a benediction or a prophecy the idea is “Precisely! May God do it.”

Maybe if you read this article, it will shed some light on why the insane ending to the prayer was done and how that’s a preview of things to come in the House of Representatives.

We will try to bring comfort to all through obedience to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

I know this scripture is difficult for many, but here is the answer!

Philippians 4:6 New International Version (NIV)

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

This is exactly what we plan to do each night until the Lord leads us differently.

God’s Word Says “Fear Not”

Many people are very concerned, and when you read comments from the President and Vice-President it is very understandable that all folks should be taking precautions with it comes to the Coronavirus.

Earlier today, Vice-President Pence said the following the morning after President Trump addressed the nation about the pandemic the entire world is battling.

“There’s been some irresponsible rhetoric, but the American people should know President Trump has no higher priority than the health and safety and well being of the people of this country,”

Being irresponsible is totally unacceptable during this time, and that includes many pastors who have said things that have not helped the panic here in America and around the world.

All that being said, the Bible tells us in Isaiah 41:10; “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

The book of Joshua also tells us in Joshua 1:9; Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

While there are many who believe that this crisis is blown out of proportion and a huge number are panicking and are fearful that large parts of the population may die.

As in all things in life, prayer is needed and not panic. Faith in God to do what He says in the verses above is needed. We need not play politics in times of crisis – we need to trust God and FEAR NOT.
