Holy Week – Resurrection Sunday…The Empty Tomb

As sad as Good Friday was, the best news ever came on Sunday! The Tomb was empty!!! The birth of our Savior (Christmas), the death of our Savior (Good Friday), and the Resurrection of our now Risen Savior (Easter). The story of the human walk of Jesus is now complete with his impending Ascension soon at hand.

Blessings to all and a big thank you to those who followed the journey of Holy Week here with us.

Matthew 28:1-10

Jesus Has Risen

28 After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb.

There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men.

The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.”

So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples. Suddenly Jesus met them. “Greetings,” he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him.10 Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me.”

Holy Week – Palm Sunday

This year during Holy Week, we will have a special post each day talking about this most special week of the Christian Faith.

5 Things about Palm Sunday that Remind Us Christ is King

1. God’s Word tells us the people cut palm branches and waved them in the air, laid them out on the ground before Jesus as He rode into the city. The palm branch represented goodness and victory and was symbolic of the final victory He would soon fulfill over death.

“O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” 1 Cor. 15:55

2. Jesus chose to ride in on a donkey, which directly fulfilled Old Testament prophecy of Zech. 9:9. In Biblical times, it was common for kings or important people to arrive by a procession riding on a donkey. The donkey symbolized peace, so those who chose to ride them showed that they came with peaceful intentions. Jesus even then reminded us that He is the Prince of Peace.

“Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; righteous and having salvation is he, humble and mounted on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.” Zech. 9:9

3. When the people shouted “Hosanna!” they were hailing Christ as King. That word actually means “save now,” and though in their own minds they waited for an earthly king, God had a different way in mind of bringing true salvation to all who would trust in Him.

“Blessed is he who comes in the name of the LORD!” Ps. 118:26

“If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Rom. 10:9

4. The Bible says that Jesus wept for Jerusalem. In the midst of the praise of the moment, He knew in His heart that it wouldn’t be long that these same people would turn their backs on Him, betray Him, and crucify Him. His heart broke with the reality of how much they needed a Savior.

“As he approached Jerusalem and saw the city, he wept over it, and said, “If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace–but now it is hidden from your eyes.” Luke 19:41-42

5. Palm Sunday reminds us that the reign of Christ is far greater than any the mind of man could ever conceive or plan. Man looked for someone to fight their battles in the present day world. Yet God had the ultimate plan of sending His Son to fight the final battle over death. This is the greatness of why we celebrate this week. Because of Christ’s ultimate sacrifice, we can be set free of death.

“Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies,'”John 11:25

We have so much to be grateful for this week.

The enemy knows that, and you can bet, he’s going to do everything he can to try and distract us away from the true meaning of what this Holy Week means. Don’t let him win.

In this Holy Week, may God direct our thoughts and attention towards what matters most, Jesus Christ our King…

Let’s choose to focus on worshipping our Lord, thanking Him for the gift of His sacrifice, celebrating the power of the Resurrection, and the new life found in Him alone.

“Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!” 2 Cor. 9:15

Mid-Term Review Coming Wednesday

In the past, doing a Mid-Term Review show was normally done the night of the election. The most recent national elections show that it’s difficult to call many of the races until the early hours of Wednesday, with some not being able to be called for weeks.

With that in mind, our Mid-Term Review show will take place on Wednesday. Hopefully, there will be a more complete look at what actually took place today and with very little speculation.

One difference it the show this year, it will be done by video. This way, we will be able to show visuals.

Former Navy Seal Ephraim Mattos Introduces His New Book – City of Death

Here is the link to our interview with Ephraim Mattos on iHeartRadio.

The following has been released since our actual interview took place one day last week. Below that is the actual video of Ephraim being shot and following that is the promotion for City of Death.

Former US Navy SEAL, Ephraim Mattos, has responded to comments made this week by Don Lemon on CNN’s Cuomo Prime Time.

“We have to stop demonizing people and realize the biggest terror threat in this country is white men, most of them radicalized to the right, and we have to start doing something about them.” — Don Lemon on CNN (October 29, 2018)

Here is Mattos’ response:

After surviving three wars, a gunshot wound, a near-fatal drowning, a failed parachute, Taliban ambushes, ISIS snipers, mortars, mine-fields, suicide bombers and laying down my life for the cause of freedom while fighting shoulder-to-shoulder with my brother Arabs, Asians, Blacks, Hispanics, Christians, Muslims, Jews, Buddhists, Animists, and Atheists, I have now returned home to the USA where a CNN host has labeled me as a radicalized right-wing terrorist simply because of my gender and the color of my skin.

I represent just one of the hundreds of thousands of conservative white men who have fought to preserve freedom in this great Nation and in other nations.  My forefathers are the 3% who founded this Republic against the might of the British Army.  It was white Conservative men who died by the tens of thousands after charging into our southern states to free our black brothers from the slavery imposed on them by the Liberal left.  We were the ones who acknowledged that women have a right to vote.  We held the line in WWI and charged the beaches of Normandy in WWII.  We have fought for freedom and liberty for generations and we continue to do so today alongside all of our brothers and sisters regardless of their race or religion.

In the early 1930s, Hitler said the same thing about the Jews that Don Lemon of CNN just said about white men.  This is the true face of the Democratic Party.  First, they enslaved and killed blacks, and now they use them to spew hatred and lies against the very people who have fought for generations to free them and uplift them.

Remember that when you go to vote.

One final thought: To make a point, I have referred to myself as a “white male” in the previous sentences multiple times, but I must make it clear that I identify as simply “American,” not as “white” or “male” or “Republican.”

Although blatantly racist and hateful, do not let Don Lemon’s ignorant words drive you into viewing yourself only by your race and religion.  Identity politics does not lead to freedom.  It only leads to hatred and division and an “us vs. them” mentality.

If CNN does not fire Don Lemon immediately, it only goes to show that they are truly the “enemy of the people.”

— Ephraim Mattos, Former US Navy SEAL

Former US Navy SEAL Ephraim Mattos teamed up with New York Times bestselling author Scott McEwen (American Sniper) to write the upcoming book, City of Death: Humanitarian Warriors in the Battle of Mosul — available everywhere on October 23 from Center Street / Hachette Book Group. City of Death tells the unforgettable story of an American warrior turned humanitarian forced to fight his way into and out of a Hell on Earth created by ISIS.

City of Death is the true story of Ephraim Mattos and what he witnessed while volunteering as a frontline combat medic during the historic battle to retake Mosul from ISIS – the deadliest urban combat the world has seen since WWII.

After leaving the US Navy SEAL teams in 2017, Mattos, age 24, flew to Iraq to join a small group of volunteer humanitarians known as the Free Burma Rangers, who were working on the frontlines of the war on ISIS.

Until being shot by ISIS on a suicidal rescue mission, Mattos witnessed unexplainable acts of courage and sacrifice by the Free Burma Rangers, who, while under heavy machine gun and mortar fire, assaulted across ISIS minefields, used themselves as human shields and sprinted down ISIS-infested streets – all to retrieve wounded civilians.

In City of Death, Mattos recounts in vivid detail what he saw and felt while he and the other Free Burma Rangers evacuated the wounded, conducted rescue missions, and at times fought shoulder-to-shoulder with the Iraqi Army against ISIS. Filled with raw and emotional descriptions of what it’s like to come face-to-face with death, this is the harrowing and uplifting true story of a small group of men who risked everything to save the lives of the Iraqi people and who followed the credence, “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”

Totally Unacceptable

This picture should anger any person with a conscience!

High School Band

This is from JACKSON, MS (WLBT) – Pictures of the Forest Hill High School halftime band performance during their game against Brookhaven High School are going viral on social media. Many are saying the performance depicted students dressed as doctors and nurses holding SWAT team members at gunpoint. Two Brookhaven police officers were killed in the line of duty responding to a shots fired call last week.

I first thought that surely this must be a made-up story like we so often see on Social Media. Two police officers were killed there in the line of duty last week and this happens.

Each staff member that had ANY involvement in this needs to be immediately fired! And for the students involved, I’m shocked that they didn’t either report what they had planned or just refuse to participate in such a despicable performance. I will take it a step further and say that if they were in this unbelievable display of hate and intolerance, they should be suspended from school.

There is no explanation that would make this acceptable! I don’t care if this was their excuse:

Reports said the performance was based loosely on the movie “John Q,” in which a father played by Denzel Washington takes patients at a hospital hostage in order to secure treatment for his son.

Law enforcement is under attack – and that must stop!

Today I Met A 93 Year-Old World War II Veteran

Memorial Day is all about the memory of those brave men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our great nation. Today, as I had the privilege to speak about the history of Memorial Day,  I also had the honor of talking with a 93-Year-Old World War II Veteran. I’ll call this hero Mr. S and I will try to share with you what a joy it was talking with this member of “The Greatest Generation”.

The picture above was taken just before Mr. S was about to depart from New York Harbor on his way to LaHavre, France when he was 19 years old. After heading to Germany to the Reception Center near Cologne, Mr. S was assigned to the 35 Infantry Division Signal Company.

Once the hostilities in Germany concluded, our hero arrived back in New York after being transported on the Queen Mary.  He was discharged from the Army in July 1946 at Fort Sheridan, IL with the rank of Sergeant.

Mr. S proudly showed me this polo shirt that shows the medals that he earned while serving our great nation.

The thing that I noticed the most about Mr. S was that he totally knows the true meaning of Memorial Day. You see, Mr. S reminded me that there were those he served with didn’t come home alive. Yes, that’s what Memorial Day is all about.

As a final note, you might wonder how I got all of these specific details about Mr. S and his time in service. He showed me his Military Service Record that included all the information. I love any time I get to spend with a World War II hero. Mr. S made this solemn day one that I will remember forever.
