Negotiate From A Position of Power

Back on April 27th, in a post titled “Will There Be A Peace Treaty?” I called President Donald Trump a master negotiator. The President’s letter below shows his negotiating ability and when you negotiate from a position of power, you have a much better chance of things working out in your way.

If you disagree, I would suggest you look at the skills President Ronald Reagan had with this topic. His negotiating ability from a position of power was unparalleled during my lifetime.

Less than a day after this letter was sent, North Korea was back asking for the negotiations to continue. Call a bullies bluff and most bullies will back down.

Repealing Ireland’s pro-life amendment could have dire consequences, bishop warns

Ireland’s upcoming vote on whether to legalize abortion is “a vital issue of life or death” that threatens to change the country forever, Bishop Fintan Monahan of Killaloe told his diocese.

“I, along with many others find it almost beyond belief and profoundly sad that we are being asked to abolish the basic right to life of the unborn child from our constitution, a most fundamental and basic right,” he said.

Judge overturns law legalizing assisted suicide in California

In 2015, California officially legalized assisted suicide. Despite intense opposition from both religious and disability rights groups, as well as doctors, California Governor Jerry Brown signed the bill into law, claiming he considered what he would want, saying, “In the end, I was left to reflect on what I would want in the face of my own death.” But now, almost two years after it took effect, a Riverside judge has overturned the law.

Statement On The Move of the United States Embassy to Jerusalem

Today is an amazing day in history. It is beyond wonderful for God, for Israel, for the United States, and for the world.

Today May 14th, 2018, exactly 70 years after modern-day Israel was once again recognized as a nation, the United States has moved our embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

During his campaign, US President Donald Trump said that this move would be happening, and as he has on numerous issues, the President has made good on his promise. Twelve other presidents have had the opportunity to do this, and no one else followed through.

Nearly standing alone, and receiving criticism from around the world, including many of our allies, we have Done The Right Thing when it comes to this issue.

God’s word tells us in Genesis chapter 12 starting verse 1,   “The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you.

“I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.
I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse;
and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.

God was founding Israel as a nation, and later in 2 Samuel Chapter 5 -God anoints David as King and David choose Jerusalem as the location to lead the nation from.

All the tribes of Israel came to David at Hebron and said, “We are your own flesh and blood. In the past, while Saul was king over us, you were the one who led Israel on their military campaigns. And the Lord said to you, ‘You will shepherd my people Israel, and you will become their ruler.’”

When all the elders of Israel had come to King David at Hebron, the king made a covenant with them at Hebron before the Lord, and they anointed David king over Israel.

David was thirty years old when he became king, and he reigned forty years. In Hebron, he reigned over Judah seven years and six months, and in Jerusalem, he reigned over all Israel and Judah thirty-three years.

Pastor John Hagee said this at the official ceremony in Jerusalem:

“Jerusalem is the city of God, Jerusalem is the heartbeat of Israel, Jerusalem is where Abraham placed his son on the altar,” he continued. “Jerusalem is where Messiah will come and establish a kingdom that will never end.”

Yes today, Israel and the United States stand arm-in-arm as we should. I’m proud to be a Christian, an American, and a brother to God’s Chosen People.

May this union last until the return of Christ our Savior and bless both Israel and the United States for what happened today!

US Recognizes That Jerusalem Is The Official Capital of Israel

This will be the first of several things that the Ed Boston Podcast will be doing on this historic day, the move of the US Embassy to Jerusalem.

The following excerpt comes from a story at Newsweek.com.

President Donald Trump has fulfilled a “Biblical prophecy” by moving the United States embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, Judge Jeanine Pirro claimed on her Fox News show on Saturday. The new embassy, which has been met by criticism from Palestinians and the European Union, is set to open on Monday.

Pirro was in Israel ahead of the relocation from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. Calling the move a “truly historic moment in Israel’s history,” Pirro said Trump’s decision to relocate the embassy was one celebrated by the people of Israel.

Military Spouse Appreciation Day

Today is Military Spouse Appreciation Day it is celebrated on the Friday before Mother’s Day every year in the United States. President Ronald Reagan recognized the importance of this day when it started in 1984. Many United States citizens take this day to acknowledge the significant contributions, support, and sacrifices of spouses of their Armed Forces. Each year, the US President normally commemorates this day with a ceremonial speech and proclamation.

Praying For Our Brothers and Sisters in Israel

All of us at the Ed Boston Podcast Network are praying for our brothers and sisters in Israel. The chances of Israel going to war after the exchange with Iran that took place in Syria have greatly increased. These developments, along with President Trump announcing America’s withdrawal from the Iran deal and the reimposition of US sanctions on Tehran, have put the Middle East in a high state of alert.

The article below comes from The Jerusalem Post. We’ll keep praying, watching and reporting as this story unfolds.

ISRAEL STRIKES DOZENS OF IRANIAN TARGETS IN SYRIA

Israel also destroyed the Iranian launcher from which the Grad rockets and Fajr 5 missiles were fired at Israel.

Israel struck 50 Iranian targets in Syria after 20 rockets were fired towards Israel’s front defensive line in the Golan Heights by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corp’s Quds Force early Thursday morning, the IDF announced.

The targets all belonged to the Quds Force and included intelligence sites, logistics headquarters, a military compound and logistics complex in Kiswah near Damascus; weapons-storage sites at Damascus International Airport; and intelligence systems and installations, as well as observation, military posts and military hardware in the buffer zone.

In addition, the Iranian launcher from which the Grad rockets and Fajr-5 missiles were fired at Israel was also destroyed overnight.

Syria’s SANA state news agency reported that regime air defenses “managed with high efficiency to intercept and destroy a large part of the Israeli missiles,” adding that only three people were killed and two injured in the Israeli strikes which destroyed a radar station and an ammunition depot.

According to IDF Spokesman Brig.-Gen. Ronen Manelis the Israeli retaliation was “one of the greatest operations of the Israel Air Force in the past decade,” adding that Russia was informed ahead of the strikes.

The 28 F-16 and F-15 jets participating in the operation were met with heavy anti-aircraft fire from the Syrian regime; in return, five Syrian air-defense batteries were destroyed by Israel.

Incoming-rocket sirens were activated a little after midnight in the northern Golan Heights communities of Majdal Shams, Neveh Ativ, Nimrod, Mas’ada, Bukata, Odem and El Rom.

There were no injuries or damage from the barrage since no projectile landed inside Israel, the army said, adding that four missiles had been intercepted by the Iron Dome missile defense system which had been deployed in the north.

According to Lebanon’s National News Agency, one surface-to-surface missile landed near the town of al-Hibbariyeh while Lebanon’s LBCI TV reported that another missile had landed in the Bekaa town of Qab Elias near a Syrian refugee camp.

“The IDF has been engaged in a wide-scale disruption operation against an attempt by the Quds Force to carry out an offensive against Israel,” Manelis said on a call with reporters on Thursday. “We have operated several times against Iran and have succeeded in preventing a number of terror attacks and Iranian strikes in the past month.

“The Iranian attack on Israel tonight is yet another clear proof of the intention behind the Iranian forces’ entrenchment in Syria and the danger they pose to Israel and regional stability,” the IDF stated, adding that “the IDF will continue to act decisively against Iran’s entrenchment in Syria.”

The military stated that even though Quds Force commander Qassem Soleimani is directly behind the attack, the Syrian regime is responsible for what happens in its territory and warned it against acting against the IDF.

“Tonight reflects what we are preparing for the future. The Quds Force chose to act against the State of Israel in the wrong place. We won’t accept an Iranian entrenchment in Syria and the Quds Force has paid a very heavy price,” Manelis said.

“The IDF is highly prepared for a variety of scenarios and will continue to act as necessary for the safety of Israeli citizens,” the army said, stressing that residents in Israel should continue their routine and that schools and farming can function as usual.

Following the missile barrage all roads in the Golan Heights were closed to traffic.

Israel had been preparing for a direct attack from the Quds force since mid-April, in response to a strike allegedly carried out by the Jewish state against an Iranian-operated airbase in Syria which killed seven IRGC soldiers.

“This was an Iranian event which was a very significant event and it will not be tolerated,” Manelis said after the rockets were launched, adding that there would be an IDF response. Pro-Syrian regime news outlet Al-Mayadeen reported that any further strikes will be met by “larger” attacks on Israel.

On Tuesday night the military instructed local governments to open bomb shelters for residents of the Golan Heights, following the identification of “abnormal movements of Iranian forces in Syria.”

The army has raised preparedness of “troops for an attack” and deployed air defenses in several locations in the north of the country.

The Jerusalem Post visited the area earlier on Wednesday and witnessed a heavy and visible police presence on highways leading up to northern Israel, with IDF vehicles blocking access to all roads north of Route 98 in the Golan Heights.

While some bomb shelters in the area were opened prior to Tuesday’s announcement, the significant change witnessed by the military led to the decision for authorities to open all bomb shelters and to inform residents of the increased tension in the area.

National Day of Prayer Special – Tonight at 9 pm Eastern

Tonight Thursday, May 3rd, the Ed Boston Podcast Network will host a special time of prayer, scripture, and comments for our country. We will be live streaming on Facebook Live, You Now, and You Tube.

Here is some information from the National organization about today’s events and history of National Day of Prayer.

National Day of Prayer Theme for 2018

The National Day of Prayer was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of Congress, and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman. In 1988, the law was unanimously amended by both the House and the Senate and signed into law by President Ronald Reagan on Thursday, May 5, 1988, designating the first Thursday of May as a day of national prayer. Every president since 1952 has signed a National Day of Prayer proclamation.

Prayer brings people together. Prayer builds bridges between opposing persons and even political parties. Prayer reminds us that we are created in God’s image and He desires for us to represent Him everywhere we go. Prayer brings UNITY. In 2018, our theme will be Pray for America – UNITY, based upon Ephesians 4:3 which challenges us to mobilize unified public prayer for America, “Making every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.”

Our hope is that individuals, churches, and spiritual leaders in America, will humble ourselves and unify in prevailing prayer for the next great move of God in America. We can come together in clear agreement that this is our greatest need. We can become a visible union, standing together in prayer. We can pray more than ever before, and practice extraordinary prayer for the next great move of God in America that will catapult the message of the gospel nationally and internationally.

Pray with us. Sponsor an event in your community. Become a volunteer. Order resources to help promote an event in your area. Support the National Day of Prayer financially. Together, we can mobilize unified public prayer for America!

“There is no great movement of God that has ever occurred that does not begin with the extraordinary prayer of God’s people.” Dr. Ronnie Floyd
