Pastor Greg Laurie Given A Huge Honor

Greg Laurie to Receive 2018 NRB Billy Graham Award

NASHVILLE (NRB) – Greg Laurie, one of America’s foremost evangelists, will be honored with National Religious Broadcasters’ Billy Graham Award for Excellence in Christian Communications on Friday, March 2, during the Awards Gala at Proclaim 18, the NRB International Media Convention in Nashville, Tennessee.

Laurie will receive the award named for the famed evangelist on the same day as the private funeral service for Graham in Charlotte, which Laurie will attend.

“In God’s providence, the NRB Executive Committee chose Greg Laurie to receive this year’s Billy Graham Award weeks ago, before it would be known that the honor would be bestowed on him on the very day of the great evangelist’s funeral,” said Dr. Jerry A. Johnson, NRB’s President & CEO. “While the world mourns the loss of Dr. Graham, we see in the life of Greg Laurie another evangelist faithful to preach the Gospel to all the world who is an innovator in communicating God’s Word, following in Dr. Graham pacesetting communications footsteps.”

Dr. Billy Graham, the world-renowned evangelist who passed away on February 21, was a pioneer in Christian broadcasting. Graham exemplified a commitment to excellence, creativity, and biblical fidelity in his use of electronic communications in furtherance of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The NRB Billy Graham Award is presented to those who effectively and creatively use multiple electronic media technologies in fulfillment of their mission, while maintaining fidelity to the message of love, redemption, and hope found in the Holy Scriptures.

“I am honored to receive this award,” says Laurie. “Not only was Billy Graham the greatest evangelist who ever lived, he also was an innovator in all media platforms. Our hope at Harvest Ministries is, in our own way, to follow that example and reach as many people as possible with the Gospel in our generation, as Billy did in his.”

Laurie is the senior pastor of Harvest Christian Fellowship, which has campuses in California and Hawaii. He has authored over 70 books, including Steve McQueen: The Salvation of an American IconTell SomeoneHope for Hurting Hearts, and his autobiography, Lost Boy. Laurie’s book on McQueen is the basis for the movie, Steve McQueen: American Icon. Host of the nationally syndicated radio program A New Beginning and television program GregLaurie.tv, Laurie is also the founder and featured speaker for Harvest Crusades and Harvest America—large-scale evangelistic outreaches. The 2018 Harvest America event will take place on June 10, emanating nationwide from AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Laurie’s attendance at the Graham funeral will prevent him from receiving the award in person at the Awards Gala. Instead, a video message from Laurie will be shown.

The Billy Graham Award for Excellence in Christian Communications will be presented during Proclaim 18, which takes place February 27-March 2, 2018, at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center in Nashville.

Looks Like I’m Not The Only One Disgusted With “The View”

My post,  This Is Disgusting, But Par For The Course From “The View”seems to be holding true with the opinions of several different people. The Vice-President himself had these comments  during a C-Span interview when asked about the situation:

Vice President Mike Pence delivered a jaw-dropping rebuke of ABC News after “The View” host Joy Behar compared Christianity to mental illness.

“To have ABC maintain a broadcast forum that compared Christianity to mental illness is just wrong,” Pence said Wednesday on C-SPAN. “It is simply wrong for ABC to have a television program that expresses that kind of religious intolerance.”

Pence said on C-SPAN that his faith is the most important thing in his life.

“My faith sustains me in all that I do,” he said.

The vice president said “The View” hosts insulted the “vast majority of the American people who cherish faith.”

“It demonstrates how out of touch some in the mainstream media are with the faith and values of the American people that you could have a major network like ABC permit a forum for invective against religion like that,” he said.

Pastor Robert Jeffress had the following article on his website, Pathway To Victory:

Courtesy: Fox News Insider:

Dr. Robert Jeffress went off on the co-hosts of “The View” for mocking Vice President Mike Pence’s Christian faith on Tuesday.

It all started when “The View” played a clip from “Celebrity Big Brother,” in which former White House staffer Omarosa Manigault Newman said the Vice President “thinks Jesus tells him to say things.”

Sunny Hostin expressed concern about Pence’s religious fervor and said she doesn’t want her Vice President “speaking in tongues.”

“It’s one thing to talk to Jesus. It’s another thing when Jesus talks to you,” Joy Behar said, adding that hearing voices is a “mental illness.”

Jeffress wondered on “America’s Newsroom” what would have happened to Behar if she had mocked a devout Muslim.

“ABC would have fired her in a nanosecond. To the left, when it comes to attacking conservative Christians, it is always open season.”

He pointed out that many liberals preach the importance of tolerance, but when it comes to beliefs with which they disagree, they can often be the least tolerant.

He said Christians are tired of being bullied in the public square for their faith, and the 2016 election was in some ways a reaction to these types of “despicable attacks.”
