Special Good Friday Prayer Service

Each night since March 18th (minus 1 night), Ed Boston Ministries has hosted an online Prayer Service in response to the National Emergency happening in the United States and around the world.

With this being Holy Week, we thought we would have a special Prayer Service on Good Friday at 7 pm eastern on the ministry Facebook page. The link there is www.facebook.com/edbostonministries. This service will be different than what we have been doing each night, so why not join us and help us observe Good Friday!

Ed Boston Ministries Presents – Nightly Online Prayer Service

Beginning tonight, March 18th, Ed Boston Ministries will begin hosting an online Prayer Service at 7 pm eastern for the indefinite future. The world is experiencing situations like no other in our lifetime and the answer to this is PRAYER.

We would like to give you the opportunity to have your prayer requests prayed over during these nightly times of prayer. Please submit your requests to ed@edbostonministries.com; or the Ed Boston Ministries Facebook Page.

We will try to bring comfort to all through obedience to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

I know this scripture is difficult for many, but here is the answer!

Philippians 4:6 New International Version (NIV)

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

This is exactly what we plan to do each night until the Lord leads us differently.

God’s Word Says “Fear Not”

Many people are very concerned, and when you read comments from the President and Vice-President it is very understandable that all folks should be taking precautions with it comes to the Coronavirus.

Earlier today, Vice-President Pence said the following the morning after President Trump addressed the nation about the pandemic the entire world is battling.

“There’s been some irresponsible rhetoric, but the American people should know President Trump has no higher priority than the health and safety and well being of the people of this country,”

Being irresponsible is totally unacceptable during this time, and that includes many pastors who have said things that have not helped the panic here in America and around the world.

All that being said, the Bible tells us in Isaiah 41:10; “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

The book of Joshua also tells us in Joshua 1:9; Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

While there are many who believe that this crisis is blown out of proportion and a huge number are panicking and are fearful that large parts of the population may die.

As in all things in life, prayer is needed and not panic. Faith in God to do what He says in the verses above is needed. We need not play politics in times of crisis – we need to trust God and FEAR NOT.

A New Year, A New Decade and a New Focus

A few moments to look back, but more importantly a look at the future.

Ed Boston Ministries has gone by many names and has been primarily a Chriatian podcast since the beginning back in 2008.

There have been political discussions, interviews, road trips, celebrity friends of the podcast, sermons preached, and so much more.

The first 12 years have served as a huge learning experience and it’s now time to move forward and seek God’s deeper will for this ministry.

With a new Decade here, the goal for this ministry is to be more bold for Christ.

What exactly does that mean? What will be different in 2020 than any other of the previous 12 years?

The focus is what will be different. In the past, the podcast has been the central part of the ministry. The podcast will continue, but you will hear less interviews and more specific Ed Boston Ministries original material.

There will be a church service each week at 7 pm eastern that will be simulcast on Facebook Live and YouTube.

The service will be designed to be the same as if you were actually in the church building.

A greeting, scripture readings, music, sermon, alter call, offering opportunities and communion on some occasions will be part of the service.

Many believe that we are living in the end times. Again, with that in mind, top focus needs to be on winning lost souls to Christ.

Another priority will be short 4-6 minute YouTube videos on relevant Christian topics. Pastors need to share their take issues that affect our Christian walk and that is what the plan is for these videos.

There will still be interviews, but the focus on them will be much less.

It’s a New Year, a New Decade and now there is a New Focus.

Evil Continues to Exist and It’s Going to Get Worse

There is no greater evidence that evil exists in the world today than the horrific incidents that happened near Fort Worth, Texas and in New York this past weekend.

God’s word tells us that this will happen and will even continue to get worse.

2 Timothy 3: 1-7 says this:

But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come:For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

So with the knowledge that evil will continue to get worse, how should we Christian’s react and even more importantly how should we be proactive?

Unfortunately, many take the stance that God will protect us when we are in our church buildings. Others are reluctant or even refuse to put even minimal security measures in place.

Thankfully that wasn’t the case at West Freeway Church of Christ near Fort Worth.

They were trained for the worst and the worst, pure evil showed up on Sunday.

In just 6 seconds, 3 lives were taken, but there was the potential for up to 240 more lives that could have been lost had Jack Wilson, a reluctant new American hero not have been prepared for the evil that approached.
Wilson said, “I just want to thank all who have sent their prayers and comments on the events of today. The events at West Freeway Church of Christ put me in a position that I would hope no one would have to be in, but evil exists and I had to take out an active shooter in church.”

Then there is this report from CBN News:

What should have been a joyous holiday occasion turned into tragedy for some Hasidic Jews gathered for a Hanukkah dinner. They were at the home of their rabbi when a man entered wielding a machete.

“He took out his knife from a holder and started hitting people back and forth. He didn’t say anything. He went into the dining room and hit a few people there and then he went to the kitchen and hit one guy there and then he came back to the dining room,” witness Joseph Gluck explained.

To not be prepared for the evil that is guaranteed in the bible is just plain irresponsible.

I will finish out with more scripture of a long list of evil that the Apostle Paul warned the church in Rome about.

Roman’s 1: 24-32 tells us this:

Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature.Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting;being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful;who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.

Prepare yourself and others for what evil situations that may present themselves. Prayer most certainly is the first step in this preparation, but I’m reminded that faith without works is dead.

Merry Christmas from Ed and Amy
