| Ed, Join us in celebrating Israel’s Independence Day! On this day in 1948 Israel was reformed as a modern independent nation. Below is a forwarded email from our friends at CBN about Israel’s Independence day. “Who has ever heard of such things? Who has ever seen things like this? Can a country be born in a day or a nation be brought forth in a moment? Yet no sooner is Zion in labor than she gives birth to her children” (Isaiah 66:8 NIV). On May 14, 1948, just before the Sabbath, some 350 guests crammed into an un-air-conditioned, Tel Aviv art gallery for a 32-minute ceremony that would change the world forever. “We, members of the people’s council, representatives of the Jewish community of Eretz-Israel and of the Zionist movement, are here assembled on the day of the termination of the British Mandate over Eretz-Israel and, by virtue of our natural and historic right and on the strength of the resolution of the United Nations General Assembly, hereby declare the establishment of a Jewish state in Eretz-Israel, to be known as the State of Israel,” declared David Ben-Gurion, Executive Head of the World Zionist Organization, Chairman of the Jewish Agency for Palestine, and soon to be the first prime minister of the fledgling state. On that historic day, Ben-Gurion spoke for 11 million Jewish men, women, and children around the world who had no voice, no address, and nowhere to go. For the first time in nearly 2,000 years, they finally had their own nation in their ancestral homeland. On November 29, 1947, the United Nations had passed Resolution 181 calling for the creation of a Jewish State and an Arab State in British-controlled Mandatory Palestine. The plan set aside land in the Galilee, along the Mediterranean and the Negev Desert for the Jewish people, while the Arabs were to receive all of biblical Judea and Samaria, later known as the West Bank, the Gaza Strip and other small portions. Perhaps the most controversial part of the plan was that an international body would control Jerusalem. Still, the Jewish people accepted the plan, but the Arabs rejected it. Less than six months later the Jewish people declared independence. The following day, the armies of five Arab nations attacked Israel. Many countries have fought wars for their independence, but Israel’s war was not common. They had been granted independence by the sovereign, Britain; the decision was confirmed by the United Nations; and the Jewish people were returning to the historic land of their ancestors. But it was their neighbors who did not want them to exist. A year later, the Jewish state was still standing and had increased its size by nearly 50 percent. Against overwhelming odds, this fledgling State of Israel not only survived but grew beyond expectation. Israelis commemorate their Independence Day on the 5th of the Hebrew month of Iyar. During a televised ceremony that includes various leaders, Israelis make the transition from mourning on their memorial day to celebrating their independence. This year, the nation marks this momentous occasion for the first time since the brutal Hamas invasion and massacre on October 7th. The ongoing war has brought untold suffering. Innocent lives have been lost, and the entire nation is living under the shadow of danger. As of this month, 132 hostages remain in captivity in Gaza, over 200,000 Israelis are internally displaced, and the country continues to face a grave threat from its sworn enemies in the region who seek to harm her people, devastate her land, and erase her existence. On this special day, may we continue to pray for the Jewish nation and renew our pledge to stand united with Israel. Ed, Join us in celebrating Israel’s Independence Day! Family Research Council – sign the pledge to pray for Israel on May 19th
Dear Ed,
Our nation faces many consequential challenges that should keep us in prayer and propel us to action. One issue unfolding before us is the unraveling of U.S. support for Israel. We believe uncompromising support for Israel is critical at this moment in history and therefore we need to pray, and we need to act. We want to invite you to join us in a nationwide initiative to pray for and stand with Israel on Sunday, May 19th.

It is abundantly clear that, given the challenges and complexities facing Israel – both politically and spiritually – it is imperative that we, as believers within the body of Christ, visibly demonstrate our unwavering support for Israel anchored in the word of God. Our unified prayer and visible declaration of support for Israel are powerful expressions that significantly affect the relationship between the United States and Israel.
With this goal in mind, we are calling on Bible-believing churches nationwide to pray for and stand with Israel collectively on Sunday, May 19th, by dedicating a portion of their Sunday services to pray for Israel’s peace, prosperity, and protection.
The significance of this endeavor cannot be overstated. There is an urgent need for the body of Christ to visibly show their support for the people of Israel. By uniting in prayer for Israel, we fulfill a biblical mandate to bless and pray for the nation and bring much-needed visibility to our commitment to stand with the Jewish nation of Israel. Additionally, our collective voice is a powerful testament to our shared belief in the importance of standing alongside the Jewish people.
We ask you to commit to two things:
- Sign the Pledge to publicly commit to join this movement by praying for Israel on Sunday, May 19 (details can be found on our website, prayandstand.com).
- Share this invitation with your pastor and church to come alongside you and make the same commitment. Our goal is to see 20,000 churches and ministries collectively make this proclamation on Sunday, May 19th. An invite letter and other materials can be found here.
God said He would bless those who bless Israel. Our nation needs the blessing of God; as we pray for and stand with Israel, may God’s blessing be seen once again upon America.
Thank you for considering this invitation, and may God bless you abundantly as we work together to stand with Israel.

New Peace in the Middle East
We are so pleased with the historic signing of the Peace Agreement between Israel and the United Arab Emirates today at the White House. President Donald Trump, Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed, and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu signed one of the most important Peace Agreements in the history of the Middle East. The Aaron Accords will be just one step in a long line of peace agreements between Israel and other nations who have historically been their enemy.
Discoveries Give More Confirmation That The Bible Is Accurate
More and more discoveries continue to prove that the contents of the Holy Bible are accurate. Here are two recent stories that add to the long list.
Ancient 3,000-year-old tablet suggests Biblical king may have existed
The study of an ancient tablet that dates back nearly 3,000 years suggests that the biblical King Balak may have been an actual historical figure.
Published in Tel Aviv: The Journal of the Institute of Archaeology of Tel Aviv University, the study looks at the Mesha Stele and makes the determination that after looking at new photos of the cracked tablet, Balak existed, though the researchers are not 100 percent certain of it.
“After studying new photographs of the Mesha Stele and the squeeze of the stele prepared before the stone was broken, we dismiss Lemaire’s proposal to read (‘House of David’) on Line 31,” the researchers wrote in the study’s abstract. “It is now clear that there are three consonants in the name of the monarch mentioned there, and that the first is a beth. We cautiously propose that the name on Line 31 be read as Balak, the king of Moab referred to in the Balaam story in Numbers 22–24.”

Rare ancient treasures bearing Biblical names discovered in Jerusalem’s City of David
Archaeologists in Israel have discovered a rare clay seal mark and a 2,600-year-old stone stamp bearing Biblical names amid the ruins of a building destroyed by the ancient Babylonians.

The amazing finds, which date to the First Temple period, were made in Jerusalem’s famous City of David. The artifacts were discovered in the remains of a structure razed in the 6th century B.C., likely during the Babylonian destruction of Jerusalem in 586 B.C., according to experts.
In a statement, Prof. Yuval Gadot of Tel Aviv University and the Israel Antiquities Authority, which oversaw the dig, said charred pottery shards were found in the building, indicating that the seal mark and stamp survived a major fire. Both artifacts feature ancient Hebrew script.

Statement On The Move of the United States Embassy to Jerusalem
Today is an amazing day in history. It is beyond wonderful for God, for Israel, for the United States, and for the world.
Today May 14th, 2018, exactly 70 years after modern-day Israel was once again recognized as a nation, the United States has moved our embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
During his campaign, US President Donald Trump said that this move would be happening, and as he has on numerous issues, the President has made good on his promise. Twelve other presidents have had the opportunity to do this, and no one else followed through.
Nearly standing alone, and receiving criticism from around the world, including many of our allies, we have Done The Right Thing when it comes to this issue.
God’s word tells us in Genesis chapter 12 starting verse 1, “The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you.
2 “I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.
3 I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse;
and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.
God was founding Israel as a nation, and later in 2 Samuel Chapter 5 -God anoints David as King and David choose Jerusalem as the location to lead the nation from.
5 All the tribes of Israel came to David at Hebron and said, “We are your own flesh and blood. 2 In the past, while Saul was king over us, you were the one who led Israel on their military campaigns. And the Lord said to you, ‘You will shepherd my people Israel, and you will become their ruler.’”
3 When all the elders of Israel had come to King David at Hebron, the king made a covenant with them at Hebron before the Lord, and they anointed David king over Israel.
4 David was thirty years old when he became king, and he reigned forty years. 5 In Hebron, he reigned over Judah seven years and six months, and in Jerusalem, he reigned over all Israel and Judah thirty-three years.
Pastor John Hagee said this at the official ceremony in Jerusalem:
“Jerusalem is the city of God, Jerusalem is the heartbeat of Israel, Jerusalem is where Abraham placed his son on the altar,” he continued. “Jerusalem is where Messiah will come and establish a kingdom that will never end.”
Yes today, Israel and the United States stand arm-in-arm as we should. I’m proud to be a Christian, an American, and a brother to God’s Chosen People.
May this union last until the return of Christ our Savior and bless both Israel and the United States for what happened today!

US Recognizes That Jerusalem Is The Official Capital of Israel
This will be the first of several things that the Ed Boston Podcast will be doing on this historic day, the move of the US Embassy to Jerusalem.
The following excerpt comes from a story at Newsweek.com.
President Donald Trump has fulfilled a “Biblical prophecy” by moving the United States embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, Judge Jeanine Pirro claimed on her Fox News show on Saturday. The new embassy, which has been met by criticism from Palestinians and the European Union, is set to open on Monday.
Pirro was in Israel ahead of the relocation from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. Calling the move a “truly historic moment in Israel’s history,” Pirro said Trump’s decision to relocate the embassy was one celebrated by the people of Israel.
Commemorating The 70th Anniversary of Modern Day Israel
We here at the Ed Boston Podcast Network love and support our brothers and sisters in Israel.
We want to pray for and give our best to God’s chosen people.

Shalom, Ed, No one who experiences Yom HaShoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day) in Israel ever forgets it. And from sundown April 11 to sundown April 12, something very moving will happen. At precisely 10 am, for two minutes, sirens sound across the country. All activity literally comes to a halt. People stop working, pedestrians pause, cars pull over to the side of the road, and Israel is united in silent remembrance of the six million people murdered during this terrible chapter in history. This year, as Israel prepares to celebrate her 70th birthday, I am asking friends of Israel everywhere to show their solidarity with the Jewish state that rose from the ashes of the Holocaust by observing two minutes of silence to remember those who perished. In the Bible, God told Ezekiel to prophesy to the dry bones – the people of Israel – “I will put my Spirit in you and you will live, and I will settle you in your own land” (Ezekiel 37:14). For 70 years, the modern state of Israel has stood as fulfillment of this prophecy. Thank you, my friend. Your moment of silence will remind the world that we must “never forget” the Holocaust – and that we must continue to support Israel, the sovereign Jewish state that for 70 years has been a refuge where Jewish people can live in safety. |
